Our childhood matters

Most of us have an inkling or some anecdotal evidence that the environment experienced during early life has lasting effects.


Our latest study provides fascinating support for this notion and adds to our previous body of work (for example: the paper by Ben Bar-Sadeh and colleagues.


For the nerds:

We look at the efficiency of maintaining DNA methylation using our RCP metric.

Why?

Horvath suggests that DNA methylation age (derived from epigenetic clocks) reflects the cumulative effect of an epigenetic maintenance system.


We indeed found a difference in RCP values between the two groups of women that were analysed. This motivates us to dig deeper…
